The Guild’s instructors are passionate about their craft and about building a deep community of creators across all ages and demographics. They utilize the flexible classroom space and newly renovated facilities at the Center of American Craft to engage students with heritage and contemporary craft practices.
Instructors are hired as independent contractors, and are expected to portray a high level of self-direction, professionalism, and exceptional interpersonal skills. Instructors seeking to work with children are required to obtain appropriate background clearances.
We offer a variety of class formats, from 2-hour tasters, to weekend immersion classes, to 6- or 12-week deep dives into a medium. We welcome all workshop proposals, and are specifically looking for proposals that involve:
- Glass (fusing and flameworking)
- Jewelry (traditional processes as well as “new” materials like PMC)
- Woodworking (hand carving, in particular)
- Papermaking
- Contemporary craft practices (such as installation art)
- Business of Craft classes (seeking to support craftsmen from the startup phase through to retirement)
- any topic in the 6- to 12-week format
If you’d like to teach, please complete the application below. One of our Workshop Coordinators will respond to you at their earliest convenience.
